<strong>China: STMA Deputy Chief Inspects Leaf Tobacco Bases Units of HongyunHonghe</strong>

Deputy Director-General Yang Peisen of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) was at units of exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production bases operated by HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in Xiaobaihu Township in Luliang County of Qujing City in Yunnan to inspect leaf tobacco production there on April 23.

During the inspection, Yang Peisen fully affirmed the methods adopted by HongyunHonghe to build brands-oriented leaf tobacco raw materials production bases and the achievements made by it in the construction of leaf tobacco raw materials production bases over the past many years.

Yang Peisen emphasized that the HongyunHonghe – in the capacity of a pacesetting manufacturing enterprise of the tobacco industry of China – must get deeply involved in the whole process of joint establishment of high-quality leaf tobacco raw materials production bases between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the tobacco industry and also the whole process of leaf tobacco production, in accordance with the conception of value of "putting national interests and the interests of consumers first" pursued by the tobacco industry.

It must also keep innovating work methods, practically convert its advantages in raw materials production into advantages in the development of competitive cigarette brands, and play a leading role in promoting cigarette production and marketing to higher levels, Yang Peisen said.

The leader in charge of the zone of the raw materials production bases in Qujing City said that the zone will definitely be active in dispatching agronomists, grading technicians and blending formulas technicians to closely cooperate with Qujing City Tobacco Company and the tobacco subcompanies running the bases in accordance with the requirement of Yang Peisen and the working principle that "The manufacturing sector plays the leading role, the commercial sector makes the principal part, and scientific-technological research makes the leading force".

In this endeavor, the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the local tobacco industry will jointly send personnel to go deep into the frontline of leaf tobacco production at the bases, in striving to fulfill all work of construction of bases units at Xiaobaihu Township, the leader pledged.
