<strong>China: Provincial Government Delegation Inspects HongyunHonghe</strong> Source from: HongyunHonghe Group 04/29/2014 ![]() A high-level delegation of the provincial government of Yunnan Province, led by Yunnan Provincial Communist Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Provincial Governor Li Jiheng, inspected HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group on April 21, raising requirement for future development of the provincial tobacco industry. The delegation also included Deputy Provincial Governor Ding Shaoxiang. During the inspection, the delegation attended a symposium on the development of the tobacco industry of Yunnan held at Kunming Cigarette Factory of HongyunHonghe. Speaking at the meeting, Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration (Provincial Tobacco Company) Director (General Manager) Yu Yundong and China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. General Manager Zhu Shaoming respectively delivered exclusive reports on major results of the operation of the provincial tobacco industry in the first quarter of 2014, major problems faced by the provincial tobacco industry in the three-month period, and plans for operation over a next period of time. After hearing the reports, Li Jiheng fully affirmed the achievements made b the provincial tobacco industry in its operation over the past few years by saying that the provincial tobacco industry "has powerfully contributed to promoting the economic development and growth in financial revenues of the whole of Yunnan Province, has powerfully contributed to promoting the work of agriculture, the countryside and peasantry in the whole of Yunnan Province, and has powerfully contributed to promoting reform of the industrial structure in the whole of Yunnan Province." To ensure smooth realization of the development targets for 2014, the provincial governor raised a six-point requirement for development of the tobacco industry of Yunnan in a future period of time: Firstly, efforts shall be exerted to carry out structural reform. It is imperative to take marketing as the primary orientation; profoundly meet the demand of markets; organically combine market demand with reform of the management mechanisms of enterprises; attach greater importance to the development of characteristics of products; seek ways out, seek greater efficiency, realize enlargement and strengthen the capacity through active systemic transformation; and strive to develop an "upgraded version" of the tobacco industry of Yunnan. Secondly, efforts shall be exerted to promote reform. It is imperative to unify understanding; realize meticulous organization; steadily promote reintegration and distribution of sources; attain the targets that sales will keep going up, that the speed of development will not slow down and that indexes of taxes and profits will not decline; and realize sustained, steady and healthy development of the tobacco industry of Yunnan. Thirdly, exerts shall be exerted to optimize service provision. It is imperative strengthen cooperation between the manufacturing and commercial sector of the tobacco industry, realize greater innovation in forms of production organization, and realize whole-process specialization of service from the production of raw materials of leaf tobacco to sales of cigarette products. Fourthly, efforts shall be exerted to strengthen the driving role of the tobacco industry of Yunnan. It is imperative to give full play to the funding advantage of the tobacco industry and its characteristics of "having a long industrial chain and extensive coverage", and further strengthen its role in driving the development of industries and economic development in Yunnan. Fifthly, efforts shall be exerted to realize greater openness. It is imperative to keep exploring and innovating ways of cooperation with other provincial-level regions; increasing in-depth strategic marketing cooperation with partners both within the province and in other regions; innovating channels and approaches for publicity of competitive brands; and strengthening the capacity of reacting to the market, responding to the market and providing service for the market. And sixthly, efforts shall be exerted to win greater support. It is imperative to win greater attention to and support for the development of the tobacco industry of Yunnan by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) through concerted efforts of the government and enterprises. In a concluding speech delivered at the symposium, Ding Shaoxiang required the tobacco industry of Yunnan to continue promoting its support for economic development in Yunnan to higher levels with foresight and profound thoughtfulness and systematic and scientific deliberation, by highlighting the priority of reform, and with the spirituality of unity and vigor and concrete actions, to ensure smooth realization of the annual targets for generating taxes and profits set by the provincial Communist Party Committee, the provincial government and the STMA. Before the symposium, accompanied by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. General Manager Zhu Shaoming, China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. Deputy General Manager and HongyunHonghe Board of Directors Chairman Yao Qingyan, HongyunHonghe CEO Wu Yi, HongyunHonghe Communist Party Committee Secretary Xu Liwei, et al, the delegation visited Kunming Cigarette Factory to conduct on-site verification of production at the frontline of HongyunHonghe.
