Dominican: Tobacco Exports Top US$600.0M in 2013, Similar Figure Expected This Year

Tobacco exports totaled US$600.0 million last year, while the sector projects they will reach a similar amount in 2014.

Tobacco Institute Commercial director Eligio Arias and Agricultural manager Victor Taveras provided the figures during a press conference held as part of the National Agricultural Fair 2014, taking place at Ciudad Ganadera, in the capital.

Arias and Taveras said 6,426 hectares yielding 100 tons of tobacco were grown across the country during the 2013-2014 harvest, which ended in February, with similar yields expected for the 2014-2015 crop. Enditem
