Poland: E-cigarette Sales Lower Tax Revenue Collected from Tobacco Source from: thenews.pl 02/14/2014 ![]() Excise duty from cigarettes fell by just under two percent last year as one-in-ten smokers in Poland turn to e-cigarettes to satisfy their nicotine addiction. In the first 11 months of 2013, the treasury collected 16.8 billion zloty (4 billion euro) from cigarette sales, 327 million zloty lower than the same time the year before. Chief of Poland's Customs service, Jacek Kapica, has told the Puls Biznesu daily that the era of increasing revenues from tobacco is over, with more and more smokers either giving up the habit or turning to e-cigarettes, which raise no excise duty for the state coffers.
