Germany''s Tobacco Profits Boost State Revenue Source from: West - Welfare Society Territory 01/24/2014 In 2013, Germany made €24.3 billion from the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products. This is an increase of €72 million in comparison with the previous year (+0.3%), as the Federal Statistical Office reports. This achievement is due to the raise of taxes of early 2013, which also caused the lowest amount of cigarettes purchase since reunification (80.3 billion). The sale of blondes decreased by 2.6% compared to 2012, handrolling tobacco (drum) and cigars dropped even more (-4.4% and -6.2% each). Pipe tobacco grew by 16.6% instead.
