Smoking in Pakistan

Tobacco smoking in Pakistan is legal, that's why Pakistan has highest consumption of Tobacco in Asia. According to some survey 42% of males and 15% of Females are regular smokers in Pakistan.

The habit of smoking mostly found in youth of Pakistan, 28% youth of Pakistan addicted to tobacco smoking. It has become fashion for the students.1000-1200 College or university going students take up smoking daily. A significant number of people also use smokeless tobacco in form of Paan, Gutka and Naswar etc. Nicotine is addictive substance in tobacco that causes smokers to continue their Smoking habit. Along with Nicotine smokers inhale about 7000 other chemicals.

These chemicals harm every organ in the body. Many of these chemicals came from burning of tobacco leaf. Tobacco smoke contains over 60 cancer causing chemicals. The most damaging components of tobacco smoke are Tar, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Cyanide and free Radicals.

Smoking is also one cause of heart diseases. Long term smoking causes Cancer of lung, mouth, nose and throat etc. WHO report says that tobacco use is the second highest cause of the deaths. Doctors said that smoking one cigarette reduce one's life span by 11 minutes. 5.4 million People die due to use of tobacco every year around the world. According to National Institute of Health more than 100,000 people in Pakistan die due to use of tobacco. To save the nation from ruining, we should create awareness among the youth about negative effect of smoking.

There should be ban on advertising of tobacco. Government should make strict law for the sale of cigarette and also should ban on "Shisha". High tax rates on cigarettes also can reduce smoking. Enditem
