Imperial Tobacco Group Highlighting Digital Solutions

Imperial Tobacco has been taking part in key global events to help raise awareness of new technology in the fight against illicit trade.

Our Anti Illicit Trade (AIT) team has been working with the Digital Coding & Tracking Association (DCTA), which is backed by Imperial and the other major tobacco manufacturers.

The DCTA is supporting Codentify digital codes to authenticate as well as Track & Trace products, which has been implemented in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Mark Hill, Senior AIT Engagement Manager, attended an event in Cape Town staged by the Tobacco Institute of Southern Africa, of which Imperial is a member.

He said: "Many delegates from Africa are looking for tools to help them tackle illicit trade, so they were very interested in what the DCTA and Codentify in particular has to offer."

The DCTA was also at a World Customs Organization event in Buenos Aires, which was attended by Claudia Chmella (pictured, first left), AIT Systems Manager, and Nick Pearson (third left), AIT Engagement Manager, along with representatives from PMI, BAT and JTI. Enditem
