<strong>China: STMA Urges Tobacco Industry Enterprises to Carry out Demand Forecast in 2014</strong>

On November 14, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration issued a notice to urge enterprises of tobacco industry to carry out cigarette market demand forecast of first half year and the full year of 2014.

The Notice points out that the industry will continue to adhere to the policy of "controlling total amount and keeping a tight balance", and to ensure market supply and demand in 2014 is a bit tight balance, reasonable inventory and strong price. The industry will continue to adhere to the policy of market demand guidance on manufacturing and marketing. The industry will continue to adhere to the policy of training key brands, according to requirements of "making brands bigger, perfecting specifications, rising the price", to train key brands and low tar brands as the priority of cigarette marketing, and to create a fair competition market environment, and to enhance the core competitiveness of Chinese-style-cigarette.
