China Tobacco Industry Keeps Steady Development in Oct

The tobacco industry of China, registered balanced growth of both cigarette production and sales in first 10 months in 2012, with the increment of brands value, and with key brands going up steadily.

Cigarette Production

On Oct. 2012, China's tobacco industry produced 176.8 billion cigarettes (3.536 million cases) for domestic sales, an increase of 7.1 percent over the same period 2011.

During January to Oct. 2012, China's tobacco industry produced 2130.3 billion cigarettes (42.606 million cases) for domestic sales, an increase of 2.4 percent over the same period 2011.

Cigarette Sales

On Oct., the tobacco industry of China sold 185.25 billion cigarettes (3.705 million cases), an increase of 0.8 percent, compared to the same period last year.

During January to Oct. , the tobacco industry sold 2142.85 billion cigarettes (42.857 million cases), an increase of 2.4 percent, compared to the same period last year. Grade one, 2 and 3 registered a higher sales volume at the first 10 months; sales of the Grade one, 2 and 3 increased by 1.258 milion cases, 0.696 million cases, and 3.62 million cases respectively, the Grade one accounted to 15.6 percent of total sales volume in China's tobacco industry, increased by 2.6 percent year-on-year. The total sales volume of first three grades cigarettes accounted to 69.1 percent in total sales volume of China's tobacco industry, increased by 11.6 percent year-on-year.

Cigarette Inventories

At the end of Oct., the cigarette inventories on the part of China's tobacco industry reached 158.95 billion cigarettes (3.179 million cases), up 4.95 billion cigarettes (0.099 million cases), with the cigarette inventories of manufacturing sector at 44.75 billion cigarettes (0.895 million cases), and the cigarette inventories of commercial sector at 114.15 billion cigarettes (2.283 million cases).

Taxes and Profits

On OCT. 2012, the tobacco industry of China generated 46.53 billion yuan in industrial added value, up 17.8 percent year-on-year.

On Oct. 2012, the tobacco industry of China generated 59.94 billion yuan in manufacturing and commercial taxes and profits, an increase of 11.2 percent over same period of 2011, with the amount of manufacturing taxes and profits going up 15.5 percent year-on-year at 41.76 billion yuan, and with the amount of commercial taxes and profits going up 2.9 percent year-on-year at 17.79 billion yuan.

On first 10 months in 2012, the tobacco industry of China generated 572.18 billion yuan in industrial added value, up 17.7 percent year-on-year.

On first 10 months in 2012, the tobacco industry of China generated 767.096 billion yuan in manufacturing and commercial taxes and profits, an increase of 15.7 percent over same period of 2011, with the amount of manufacturing taxes and profits going up 17.9 percent year-on-year at 527.38 billion yuan, and with the amount of commercial taxes and profits going up 12.8 percent year-on-year at 240.12 billion yuan.

Cigarette Brands

On first 10 months in 2012, the tobacco industry of China sold 1586.45 billion cigarettes (31.729 million cases) of key brand cigarette, up 14.1 percent year-on-year, and commercial sectors generated 895.51 billion yuan in sales, up 20.0 percent, accounted to 89.3 percent of total sales of tobacco industry, up 4.3 percent year-on-year.

On first 10 months in 2012, the tobacco industry of China sold 1175.75 billion cigarettes (23.515 million cases) of 15 key brand cigarette in first three grades, up 23.4 percent year-on-year.

On first 10 months in 2012, 15 key brands by sales of the tobacco industry of China generated 767.7 billion yuan in sales, up 19.9 percent year-on-year. Enditem
