China: Macau Business Tobacco Sales to Fall by 10 Percent: Distributor

Tobacco retailers expect sales to fall again this year due to tighter anti-smoking measures, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

A spokesman for distributor Heng Cheong Hong said the business of the entire sector this year "will drop by 10 percent."
 
A partial ban on smoking inside casinos was introduced on Monday. That was after the government imposed a full ban on smoking inside several public indoor spaces in January last year, which already hit tobacco sales hard in 2012.
 
In addition, the tax on each cigarette was also raised from MOP0.20 (US$0.025) to MOP0.50 in 2012. Enditem
