China: Construction Management Bureau Meets on Large-scale Irrigation Project

The bureau in charge of management over the construction of a large-scale project of irrigation for tobacco production in Xuanwei City of southwest China's Yunnan Province, known as Project Jirong, held a symposium on December 10 to discuss exclusive subjects on the construction of the project, in light of progress in the construction of all sections of the project.

The dignitaries attending the meeting included Hu Xuankun, Xuanwei City Executive Deputy Mayor and director of Project Jirong Construction Management Bureau, Jiang Qingwei, deputy director of Project Jirong Construction Management Bureau, Qin Qingkui of Xuanwei City Tobacco Subcompany, and representatives from the local tobacco monopoly, water supply, supervision and audit authorities.

The meeting gave the following consideration:

Firstly, all sections of the project have just passed through a recent flood season, and the construction of the project has entered a crucial period of time. Therefore, all units participation in the construction of the project need to move quickly, further deepening their understanding, meet responsibility, strengthen organization and coordination, and provide powerful guarantee for the construction of the project.

Secondly, leaders with Project Jirong Construction Management Bureau designated to take charge of construction of the various sections of the project should go deep into the frontline of construction of the project in a timely manner, jointly discuss with construction units the schemes and measures for construction in light of the current realities, and actively organize construction units to promptly restore construction as early as possible, after a period of suspension of construction work.

And thirdly, Project Jirong Construction Management Bureau should closely contact all construction units, make overall planning and coordination, strengthen interdepartmental cooperation, attach importance to strengthening supervision over the quality of construction work, make concerted efforts, make a good use of the favorable period of time for construction in the current winter season and the forthcoming spring season, accelerate pace in the construction of the project in accordance with the target of completing the construction work to open all tunnels on the line before the flood season in the next year, and manage to ensure timely completion of the construction work by both quality and quantity.Enditem
