China: Key Laboratory for Industrialization of Tobacco Seeds Passes Acceptance Appraisal

The project of establishing “China Tobacco Yuxi Seeds Industrialization Key Laboratory” undertaken by China Tobacco Yuxi Seeds Co., Ltd. in Yuxi City of southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has recently passed evaluation and appraisal for technical acceptance following completion of its construction and development over the past two years.

On November 27, Yuxi City Bureau of Science and Technology held a meeting to evaluate and appraise the project of establishing “China Tobacco Yuxi Seeds Industrialization Key Laboratory” for technical acceptance. A group of experts from Yuxi City Engineering Development Center, Yuxi City Bureau of Finance and the relevant sectors were invited to the meeting to conduct the evaluation and appraisal.

At the meeting, the experts carefully reviewed the relevant materials, and heard reports given by the taskforce designated to execute the project. After conducting consultation, raising questions and sufficient discussions, the group of experts unanimously agreed that the use of funds for the project has been rational, that the technical materials of the project are complete, that the measures of organization and management of the project are all in place, that the employment of human resources is fine, that all the performance-grading indexes prescribed by the assignment documentation have been well met, and that the predetermined targets have all been met. On the basis of this, the group of experts unanimously agreed to have the project passed the acceptance evaluation and appraisal.

The project of establishing “China Tobacco Yuxi Seeds Industrialization Key Laboratory” was approved by Yuxi City Bureau of Science and Technology in August 2010. In the execution of the project over the past two years, the construction of the platforms of the key laboratory was strengthened, and the enlargement of the base for scientific-technological research and the installation of advanced equipment in it were both completed.

As a result of the execution of the project, the key laboratory has built into a major base with advanced scientific-technological research facilities for scientific-technological research and technological innovation, and for the development of high-level human resources in the field of research of tobacco seeds.

So far, the key laboratory has succeeded in developing liquid medium pollens, solid medium pollens, multiple stress-resistant coated tobacco seeds, anti-counterfeiting coated tobacco seeds, new types of capsulated coated tobacco seeds disseminators, tobacco seeds threshing and preliminary selection all-in-one machines, and numerical control particle plant seeds efficient air separation units. Besides, it has also formed a complete range of soil improvement technology systems and a package of technology systems for floating development of tobacco seedlings under conditions of high temperature and high humidity, and has improved its tobacco seeds germination acceleration and packing lines.

After the meeting, the group of experts visited the greenhouse for testing the vitality of tobacco seeds, the coating processing workshop, the quality inspection section and the exhibition hall of the key laboratory. Enditem
