China: Ceremony Held to Kick off Transformation, Relocation of Ningbo Cigarette Factory

China Tobacco Zhejiang Industrial Co., Ltd. in east China's Zhejiang Province held a grand ceremony on October 28 to kick off the project of technological transformation and relocation of its affiliated Ningbo Cigarette Factory in the 2011-2015 five-year period, in efforts to significantly upgrade its cigarette production and enlarge its annual cigarette production capacity.

The area of land expropriated for the project of technological transformation and relocation of Ningbo Cigarette Factory is 840.9 mu (56.06 hectares), including 740.85 mu (49.39 hectares) of land for construction. The project provides for the construction of a new joint workshop building, a power center, a production management center, a logistics service building, raw and auxiliary materials turnover storage, a waste storage, a garbage station and other facilities for production, scientific-technological research, administration, warehousing and public power supply.

The project also provides for the installation of two leaf tobacco cutting lines each with a comprehensive annual production capacity of 4,000kg/h, one leaf tobacco cutting line with a comprehensive annual production capacity of 2,000kg/h, and a stem cutting line with a comprehensive annual production capacity of 3,000kg/h, to eventually form an annual cigarette production capacity of 50 billion cigarettes (1 million cases). With a total investment of 3.783 billion yuan (600 million U.S. dollars), the project is expected to be completed by June 2015.

Deputy Director-General Yang Peisen of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration attended the ceremony. Deputy Provincial Governor Mao Guanglie of Zhejiang Province, General Manager Liu Jianshe of China Tobacco Zhejiang Industrial Co., Ltd., Deputy General Manager Li Dingxiao of Zhejiang Provincial Tobacco Company and Deputy Mayor Hong Jiaxiang of Ningbo City respectively made speeches at the ceremony.

In his speech, Mao Guanglie said that China Tobacco Zhejiang Industrial Co., Ltd. is the main player in the development of the tobacco industry of Zhejiang, and, in accordance with the requirement for accelerating systemic transformation and upgrading of the tobacco industry, has managed to associate with other powerful enterprises, realize mutual complementation of advantages, and accelerate the innovation of brands, innovation of management and innovation of science and technology, making positive contributions to the economic development in Zhejiang Province.

He expressed the hope that China Tobacco Zhejiang Industrial Co., Ltd. will tightly seize the current rare opportunity for business development brought about by the execution of the project of technological transformation and relocation of Nongbo Cigarette Factory by meticulously making plans, making strict control over progress, and conducting construction with high quality, in order to turn the project into a fine one and sunshine one, and in striving to build the new Ningbo Cigarette Factory into a modern cigarette making enterprise with characteristic technologies, with first-rate product quality, with advanced and highly efficient management, and with a "green" environment and harmony. At the same time, he also required the enterprise to strengthen leadership, strengthen supervision, and guarantee production safety, in striving to fulfill all construction work in the project as early as possible, in order that the new Ningbo Cigarette Factory will generate effects at an early date. Enditem
