Imbued with beautiful landscape and charming view, Yuxi is located 102° E and 24° N. Most of its area has elevation of about 1,500-1,800m and belongs to subtropical plateau climate. With lofty mountains, winding rivers and deep valleys scattering around, the west of Yuxi enjoys spectacular landscapes; while with lakes and basins connecting with each other, and rich-lands reaching to the skyline, the east of Yuxi shows splendid countryside view with farms as intensive as regions along south of the Yangtze River.

Lying at the best place to produce world's top-level tobacco, Yuxi boasts some advantaged tobacco cultivating conditions, such as low latitude, high elevation, long time of sunshine, abundant rainfall and subacid red soil. The innate advantages of Yuxi make the tobacco having the same quality with other places, such as "Pinar del Rio of Cuba", "Santa Cruz of Brazil", "Harare of Zimbabwe", "Xanthi of Greece".

For this reason, tobacco leaves produced in Yuxi feature good maturity in appearance, orange-yellow color, moderate thickness, loose structure, rich oil content, good elasticity, outstanding faint scent of fine and abundant aroma, good flammability, pure taste, small irritation, and moderate aftereffect. The leaf has sugar content of 24-30%, nicotine content of 1.5-2% and that of middle leaf is 2.0-2.8% and upper leaf of 2.8-3.5%. Yuxi tobacco leaves have the reputation of "high aroma and low harm".
