Hongta Tobacco (Group) Co., Ltd. was founded in Yuxi City, the "Hometown of Yunnan Tobacco" in Yunnan Province, China in 1956. Following China’s policy of Reform and Opening-up, Hongta Group took series of reform and innovation measures such as boldly introducing advanced foreign technologies and creating the strategic thought of "Taking Tobacco Field as the First Workshop". As a result, it realized great development and built a number of famous cigarette brands including "Hongtashan", "Yuxi" and "Hongmei" favored by Chinese consumers, which made Hongta Group a landmark enterprise among its tobacco peers in China.

By 2010, Hongta Tobacco had, in the parent-subsidiary form, owned 4 cigarette factories, i.e. Hongta Group Yuxi Cigarette Factory, Hongta Group Chuxiong Cigarette Factory, Hongta Group Dali Cigarette Factory and Hongta Group Zhaotong Cigarette Factory; in the joint stock form, controlled Hongta Liaoning Tobacco Co., Ltd., Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Hongta International Tobacco Co., Ltd., HTS HONGTA SUISSE S A and Lao China Hongta Good Luck Tobacco Co., Ltd.; held shares of Jilin Tobacco Industrial Co., Ltd., China Tobacco International Europe; and established 12 cigarette production sites with asset relationship at home and abroad. In addition, as the fruits of its diversified development, so far, Hongta has built 65 enterprises covering the industries of finance, energy, transport, light chemical materials, hospitality property and so on.

Shouldering the significant mission of promoting China’s tobacco production level to a higher level, Hongta people cast their eyes to international markets as well as bravely take the social responsibilities, striving to build Hongta into a modern international tobacco enterprise.
