Hungary: Association Calls for Transparency of Tobacco Shop Windows Source from: Budapest Business Journal 04/29/2015 Hungary's National Trade Association (OKSZ) proposed that the law regulating retail sales of tobacco products be amended to allow the removal of the cover foil from tobacco shop windows, OKSZ told Hungarian news agency MTI today. The association urged that amendments quickly be made to the law in the wake of the recent murder of an employee of a tobacco shop in Kaposvár, southwestern Hungary; the association argued that covered shop windows made tobacco shops an attractive target for criminals. The windows of tobacco shops were covered to keep tobacco products out of sight of people under the age of 18. The government said it introduced this measure, as well as the regulation of tobacco stores, to curtail under-age cigarette consumption and to whiten the market. Enditem |
