Davidoff''s Original Geneva Store Gets a New Look

Davidoff continues its real estate push as the Swiss company recently celebrated its newest construction project: the refurbishment of the original Davidoff mother store in Geneva, Switzerland.

The store, which was founded in 1911 by Henri Davidoff after he immigrated to Switzerland from Kiev, Ukraine, is located on the Rue de Rive, an area known for luxury shopping. The 100-square-foot shop closed in January for three months as the interior was updated in accordance with Davidoff's new global design concept "Davidoff of Geneva-Since 1911." The shop reopened in the last week of March.

That design concept includes a unique ceiling for the store's 30 square-foot, walk-in humidor. Covered in real tobacco leaves, the ceiling is meant to emulate a cigar production environment in the Dominican Republic, where all Davidoff cigars are rolled. Additionally, earth tones and lush woods now dominate the store's retail space, combining to recall the colors of cigar wrappers. These tones are accentuated by shades of copper and a "Light Forest" chandelier, an homage to the tropical flowers of the Dominican Republic, which hangs above the entranceway.

The new Geneva shop was officially unveiled on March 24 during a ceremony led by Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, chief executive officer of Oettinger Davidoff AG. Enditem
