Hungary: Seventy New Tobacco Store Concessions Granted

The National Tobacco Sales Nonprofit Company (NDN) has just awarded 70 new tobbaco store concessions, Hungarian business daily Világgazdaság reported today. The award is the result of the fifth tender organised since Hungary introduced a state monopoly on retail tobacco sales last year.

In the present tender 659 valid applications were submitted for 88 shop concessions, out of which 70 were awarded, NDN announced.

Világgazdaság reported earlier that a new tender would be launched to distribute the remaining concessions which had not been awarded because of a lack of applicants. These concessions are less attractive because they are situated in small villages where business prospects are limited, the newspaper said. Enditem
