Singapore: MOH to Proceed with Point-of-sale Display Ban on Tobacco Products Source from: Channel News Asia‎ 03/13/2014 ![]() Shops will soon be barred from displaying cigarette packs for sale as a point-of-sale display (POSD) ban on tobacco products will be implemented to protect youths from tobacco marketing. It will be carried out through an amendment of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act by the end of 2015. The ban is being implemented following a public consultation last year. Tobacco retailers will be required to use storage devices to keep tobacco products out of direct sight of customers within the stores. Retailers will be given a grace period of 12 months after legislation to comply. The Health Ministry said it is mindful that this move may incur costs, especially for smaller retailers, and will work with them to address the concerns. Enditem |
