Hungary: Most New Tobacco Shops Opened on July 1 Source from: Politics.hu 07/12/2013 ![]() Just over 85 percent of Hungary's new 5,297 tobacco shops operating with a state concession opened on July 1. There are only 5 days to go before these shops have the exclusive right to sell tobacco products, the state-owned company in charge of introducing the monopoly said on Wednesday. Fully 767 concession-winners who failed to open their shops so far will be required to do so within 15 days. New tenders in the case of failed bids, mainly small villages, had to be submitted by July 1. The state company can issue temporary licences in these locales until a new concession is awarded. The shops can also sell newspapers, lottery tickets, spirits, coffee, energy drinks, soft drinks and mineral water, but only to customers under the age of 18. Enditem |
