Fidesz supports offering compensation to shop owners who already sell tobacco products but who made unsuccessful bids at a recent tender for licences, the party's group leader said on Wednesday.

Ruling Fidesz party group leader Antal Rogan said he supported the idea of compensation. Asked whether plans were afoot to assess conflicts of interests among the winners by banning family members of local council officials from getting licences, Rogan said this would create more problems than it would solve.
