US: New Lines of Cohiba on Sale at TrueTobacco.com

TrueTobacco.com, one of the largest and most popular tobacco suppliers on the web, announced today that it will be hosting a special one-day sale on a new line of Cohiba Cigars – one of the most popular high-grade cigar brands in the world - beginning February 26th. The sale will include their entire stock of Cohiba products, but will focus on the ultra-premium Cohiba Black line.

Cohibas are perhaps best known as for their Cuban roots. The company was originally established as a private blend exclusively for Fidel Castro and officials in Cuba's government. These cigars were not made for public consumption until 1982, and remain illegal in the United States to this day.

The US Cohiba brand is manufactured by the General Cigar Company, the makers of Punch, Bolivar, White Owl and William Penn Cigars. It uses high-grade Dominican tobacco and a number of exotic additions to produce a cigar that embodies the spirit of the original Cohiba as well as the name. The Cohiba Black line is a series of full-bodied stogies that offer cigar lovers a hearty and robust smoking experience.

According to Nick Gordon, the General Manager of TrueTobacco.com, the Dominican version of Cohibas are still some of the finest cigars you can get in the States. "Cuban Cohibas became something of a White Buffalo for cigar smokers," says Gordon. "There was nothing you could do to obtain them legally in the United States, so aficionados just sat around and hoped someday they'd come on the market again. All of this changed when the General Cigar Company introduced the Dominican line. Their goal was to make some of best cigars in the world and package them under a name that would embody that sense of quality. They choose Cohiba, and the smoking world rejoiced."

Cohibas are known for their rich, robust flavor and pleasant aroma. The Cohiba Blacks take this to the next level by adding an extra touch of age and vintage tobacco leaf. The cigars are bound in a sun-grown Dominican Piloto leaf that's been aged in tercio – a covering of pine bark – for at least three years, then packaged with fine Connecticut Broadleaf.

"The Cohiba Blacks are just a powerful, potent cigar," says Gordon. "There's an unmistakable quality to the flavor that you just don't get from less-expensive brands."

TrueTobacco.com plans to host the sale on February 15th, with most of their Cohiba products included in the special.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for smokers to wrap their fingers around a true premium cigar at a serious discount," says Gordon. "I don't see how any real cigar lover could say no."
