India: No Licence to be Issued for Selling Tobacco Items

For regulating the street hawkers operational in the city, the UT Administration has framed fresh guidelines which will be enforced with immediate effect. According to the new guidelines, no licences shall be issued for the sale of bidis, cigarettes and other tobacco items.
No vendor will be allowed to remain stationary at a place for a period of more than four hours in a day and will have to keep on moving to carry out his business without causing any inconvenience to the general public and traffic problems and becoming a public nuisance.
The vendors/ hawkers will not be allowed to operate on road sides/ berms, cycle track, footpath, round about, in front of markets and such other public places where they may cause a traffic hazard and cleanliness problems, unless otherwise specified locations in their licences.
The vendors/ hawkers selling eatables will have to maintain cleanliness, sanitation and obtain a Food Safety Licence and NOC from the MOH/ Health Department of UT under the Pure Food Act. Enditem
