US: Local Retailers Illegally Selling Tobacco Source from: KNDO/KNDU 12/14/2012 ![]() More Washington retailers, including some in our region, are breaking the rules when it comes to selling tobacco to minors. The liquor control board checks up on retailers to make sure they're checking IDs, but it looks like this year, more minors are getting their hands on tobacco. Washington State Department of Health Director of Communications Tim Church says it all goes back to budget cuts. Retailers and clerks that get caught illegally selling tobacco will face a slew of citations and fines. Church also added that although more retailers are breaking the law, it doesn't necessarily mean that more teens are smoking. Enditem |
