UK:Enterprising Tobacconist Releases E-commerce Site to Combat Restrictions on Displaying Tobacco

Some savvy shops are wise to legislation and loyal to their customers demands. One prominent example is The Smoking Jacket in Earls Court, on hearing about the ban on displaying tobacco the Managing Director, Miss Sonal Mehta reacted quickly and commissioned an e-commerce site (http://www.thesmokingjacketshop.co.uk/) to be built. When queried as to why she deemed this necessary she said "the government is hell bent on imposing increasing restrictions on our trade, we're not only a tobacconists, indeed we sell a wide array of gifts from Dupont lighters to picnic baskets. It's about providing a complete experience and allowing people to make informed decisions on how they want to spend their money and enjoy themselves. The e-commerce site is just an extension of our ethos, we're trying to make our service as accessible as possible to the wider public whilst the government are trying to do the exact opposite." The website has been a massive success with many orders over the first month, one satisfied customer stated "it's so easy, just browse through, pick what you want and it'll be with you in a day or two - from Treasurers to Sobranie's, Ziganov's to Djarum's the selections massive compared to your average tobacconist." With suggestions of a ban on all tobacco branding being thrown about, who knows what restrictions we may face next but what we can be sure of is that there's a large number of people who understand the risks associated with smoking, drinking and even crossing the road but make educated and informed decisions to do these activities anyway. Not many people aspire to an Orwellian 1984 - they certainly don't at The Smoking Jacket Shop.Enditem
