China: Guizhou Provincial Corporation Gets Good Report Card on Cigarette Production, Sales Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/15/2011 ![]() Guizhou Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in southwest China's Guizhou Province - the second largest tobacco-producing region in China - got a good report card on both cigarette production and marketing in the first half of 2011, with the increment outdoing the national average, and with cigarette production and sales in coordinated development.
From January to June, Guizhou Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation produced and sold more than 64 billion cigarettes (1.28 million cases), respectively up 3.9 percent and 9.93 percent year-on-year, and generated 12.097 billion yuan (1.86 billion U.S. dollars) in sales income, up 21.44 percent year-on-year, including 8.405 billion yuan (1.293 billion U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits, up 25.63 percent year-on-year.
In the first six months, Guizhou Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation saw both the sales volume and sales income of its Guiyan brand family move up relatively swiftly in the list of rankings of national-level key cigarette brands. Guiyan is gradually emerging as a high-grade cigarette brand.
Official data indicated that the commercial sales volume of Guiyan reached 9.905 billion cigarettes (198,100 cases) in the first six months, sharply up 373.02 percent year-on-year, with the single-case amount of sales income ranking the seventh for all cigarette brands in China.
In particular, the commercial sales volume of Grade-One and Grade Two Guiyan brand cigarettes went up 45.21 percent over the same period of 2010, higher than the national average by 7.44 percent. Enditem
