Guizhou Provincial Corporation Puts to Use Cigarette Supply Distribution Information System

Guizhou Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has recently put to use a "system of information on the distribution of cigarette supply between the manufacturing and commercial sectors", with a first batch of 210 sets of equipment installed at transportation vehicles entering into operation on March 28. The "system of information on the distribution of cigarette supply between the manufacturing and commercial sectors" is a major system in operation in the process before the entry of cigarette products into the marketplace, and is a major means applied by the tobacco industry for overseeing the distribution of cigarette supply in the whole process of physical distribution. The entry into operation of this system will be helpful for the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the provincial tobacco industry to realize cigarette supply distribution in an accurate, comprehensive, safe and highly efficient way. Meanwhile, it provides the management departments at all levels with management of scheduling, business analysis, decision making support and other value-added service. In August 2008, Shanghai Tobacco Group became the first Chinese tobacco manufacturer succeeding in applying on a trial base the "system of information on the distribution of cigarette supply between the manufacturing and commercial sectors", which contributed to enhancing the group's capacity to follow up and learning information on the distribution of cigarette supply in transportation, and realizing integration and sharing of information on cigarette supply distribution in inter-provincial transportation. The application and generalization of this system by Guizhou Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation will contribute to providing the tobacco industry of Guizhou with information on cigarette supply distribution in trunk line transportation, and with such information service as real-time follow-up and supervision over vehicles in the process of transportation, individualized scheduling and management of transportation vehicles, information on vehicle safety alarm, etc. It is expected to play a major role in supporting and promoting coordination between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the tobacco industry, reforming the structure of resources for trunk line transportation and establishing a joint web system on physical distribution by the tobacco industry.
