Chinese Province to Build Big Cigarette Supply, Distribution Center Source from: Chengdu Daily newspaper 09/14/2006 ![]() Southwest China's Sichuan Province will build a modern cigarette supply and distribution center in an industrial zone in the provincial capital city of Chengdu, with an estimated 400 million yuan (50 million U.S. dollars) in total investment.
Recently, a contract for the construction of the cigarette supply and distribution center was signed.
When fully constructed, the cigarette supply and distribution center will be able to generate 5 billion yuan (625 million U.S. dollars) in annual sales income. Construction of the center is expected to finish by the end of 2007.
The modern cigarette supply and distribution center will be the first of its kind in Sichuan Province, with the functions as a major cigarette storage facility, cigarette supply and distribution facility, cigarette trading information center and cigarette marketing management center.
The cigarette supply and distribution center will be equipped with large-size digital cigarette warehouses capable of storing 3 billion cigarettes (60,000 cases) or more, cigarette sorting workshops with a total of nine sorting lines, an administrative area, a telephone inquiry center, a tobacco business administration center, a supervision and control center, a training center, etc.
Annually, the cigarette supply and distribution center will be capable of sorting 20 billion cigarettes (400,000 cases) or more, and generate an estimated 1 billion yuan (125 million U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits.
The cigarette supply and distribution center will not only cover all the 20 districts and counties in Chengdu City, but will also radiate to other parts of Sichuan Province.
