Hongta Group Successful in Improving Quality of Products

Hongta Group in southwest China's Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - has scored great success in improving the quality of its cigarette products, particularly high-grade cigarette products of the Yuxi and Mount Hongtashan brand families, over recent years. Under the guideline of "further improving the quality of Yuxi, strengthening the capacity of Mount Hongtashan and enlarging the output of Hongmei," the technical center of Hongta Group has focused its energy in terms of material supply and technical support on improving both the quality and taste of the group's leading cigarette products, in order that they will better meet the changing market demands, and become "Chinese-style cigarettes with unique characteristics of Hongta Group. In quality improvement, the technicians of Hongta Group not only strove to lower the content of tar and other harmful substances in cigarette products, but also managed to use raw materials in stocks with different quality standards to make cigarette products of different grades and different brands, developing a rational structure of cigarette products and reaching sustainability of blending formulas. In the use of raw materials, the technicians of Hongta Group managed to reject some traditional raw materials of leaf tobacco that do not well meet the requirement for producing high-quality cigarettes today, and managed to gradually make the structure of raw materials rational. In 2005, the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration - the watchdog of China's tobacco industry - conducted a survey of cigarette products on markets in China. Results of the market survey indicate that the soft-packaging Yuxi, Century Mount Hongtashan, Hongmei, etc of Hongta Group were of a stable high quality; that domestic market demand for these brands kept growing; and that these brands were well received by consumers in China. The steady good sales of these leading brands at the domestic marketplace has to some extent contributed to improving the image of cigarette products of Hongta Group and creating fine social and economic results for the tobacco manufacturer.
