Manufacturer Strives to Develop National-Level Competitive Cigarette Brand 11/01/2005 ![]() Nanchang General Cigarette Factory, a key Chinese tobacco manufacturer based in south central China's Jiangxi Province, is striving to develop its flagship Jinsheng cigarette brand into a leading competitive "reduced-harm" cigarette brand in China.
In an address delivered on October 28, Zheng Wei, director of Jiangxi Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation, said, "Our target is to turn Jinsheng from a local famous brand into a leading Chinese-style reduced-harm cigarette brand of China, and strive to increase its annual output to over 200,000 cases (over 10 billion cigarettes) over the next three to five years."
Nanchang General Cigarette Factory has developed Jinsheng through intensive application of new technologies. Over the past decade, the evolution of Jinsheng has vividly demonstrated great efforts of Nanchang General Cigarette Factory to develop Chinese-style tobacco products with a lower content of tar and other harmful substances, also known as "reduced-harm cigarettes."
The sales volume of Jinsheng in the first seven months of 2005 reached 400 million cigarettes (8,000 cases), up 115 percent year-on-year, In the first six months, the market shares of Jinsheng in other Chinese regions went up 127 percent.
