City Tobacco Industry Meets on Development of Competitive Brands

The tobacco industry of southwest China's Chongqing City held a symposium on the development of competitive cigarette brands on October 9, with both the manufacturing and commercial sectors pledging to join hands in developing national-level famous and high-quality cigarette brands that will be of a relatively large scale, that will be relatively highly competitive and that will be relatively well marketable. At the meeting, the participants held heated discussions on the topic of "interaction between the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the city tobacco industry to develop competitive brands." They also expressed opinions on and put forward proposals for renewing the conception of the tobacco trade, formulating general plans for the development of competitive brands, establishing platforms for long-term development of competitive cigarette brands, developing key cigarette brands through marketing networks, etc. In an address delivered at the meeting, Director Jia Mingfei of Chongqing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration said that for the tobacco industry of Chongqing, it should give priority to the development of key tobacco manufacturing enterprises in the city and also to the development of local competitive cigarette brands. He urged the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the city tobacco industry to introduce advanced marketing concepts, speed up the ongoing reform of the structure of existing cigarette brands, make concerted efforts to develop competitive brands, and jointly create conditions for promoting the development of key tobacco manufacturing enterprises and key cigarette brands of Chongqing City, increasing the core competitiveness of key tobacco manufacturing enterprises in the city, and sharpening the overall competitive edge of the tobacco industry of Chongqing City.
