Chinese Tobacco Manufacturer Exports Cigars to U.S.

Bengbu Cigarette Factory in east China's Anhui Province – one of the 36 key Chinese tobacco manufacturers – exported a first batch of 600,000 73mm cigars to the United States on December 30, 2004. The cigars exported to the United States were produced by the Mengcheng Cigar Production Subsidiary to Bengbu Cigarette Factory. The export has contributed to filling a gap in China's sale of tobacco products to the U.S. market. In particular, the hand-made Wangguan (Crown) brand and Huangshansong (Mount Huangshan Pine) brand cigars manufactured by Bengbu Cigarette Factory have become famous-brand, high-quality cigars in China, and are well sold to more than 60 large or medium-size cities in some one-third of China. The export of cigars to the United States came after Bengbu Cigarette Factory stepped up efforts to develop international markets over recent years. Enditem
