Hongtashan Rated as Second Most Valuable Brand of China

Hongtashan (Mount Hongta), a famous cigarette brand family of China's Hongta Group, has been rated by Beijing Famous-Brand Property Evaluation Co., Ltd. as the second most valuable brand of China for the year 2004, at 46.9 billion yuan (5.65 billion U.S. dollars). On December 13, Beijing Famous-Brand Property Evaluation Co., Ltd. released the list of the 43 most valuable Chinese brands for the year 2004, in which Haier was rated as the most valuable brand of China, at 61.6 billion yuan (7.42 billion U.S. dollars). Since 1995, Beijing Famous-Brand Property Evaluation Co., Ltd. has released 10 annual lists of most valuable Chinese brands, in a decade-old project to research the development of brands in China. According to the list of the 43 most valuable Chinese brands for the year 2004, the past decade has been a period of rapidest development of brands in China. The average value of the first 20 most valuable Chinese brands for the year 2004 is 23.883 billion yuan (2.877 billion U.S. dollars), as compared with the average of 4.997 billion yuan (602 million U.S. dollars) for the year 1995. In 1995, only the No. 1 Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Hongta Group were capable of earning over 10 billion yuan (over 1.2 billion U.S. dollars) in annual income each. In 2004, the number of Chinese enterprises each capable of earning 10 billion yuan (1.2 billion U.S. dollars) or higher in annual income reached 13. In particular, there were five each capable of earning 30 billion yuan (3.6 billion U.S. dollars) or higher in annual income – the No. 1 Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Haier Group, Lenova Group, TCL and Hongta Group.
