Chinese Lighter Manufacturer Gets Big Order From Marlboro

A Chinese cigarette lighter manufacturer – Zhejiang Big Tiger Lighter Co., Ltd. in Wenzhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province – has received an order for 2.82 million metal-shell cigarette lighters placed by transnational tobacco giant Marlboro, which is one of the 500 largest enterprises in the world. According to Board of Directors Chairman Zhou Dahu of Zhejiang Big Tiger Lighter Co., Ltd., Marlboro will use the lighters for promotional gifts to be distributed by its subsidiaries in 48 countries. Business cooperation between Marlboro and the lighter manufacturing sector of Wenzhou started about two years when Marlboro placed small orders to several lighter manufacturing enterprises in Wenzhou. Zhou said that the prototype of the lighters ordered by Marlboro has been jointly developed by Marlboro and Zhejiang Big Tiger Lighter Co., Ltd. As the order for lighters as gifts was also extraordinarily big for Marlboro, the transnational tobacco giants sent a 10-member delegation to Wenzhou to personally inspect lighter production before signing an agreement on the deal.
