Provincial Tobacco Industry Establishes Cigarette Brand Development System

The tobacco industry of east China's Anhui Province is taking steps to establish a province-wide system for the development of competitive cigarette brands. According to Anhui Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, the provincial tobacco industry will formulate a catalogue of 100 provincial-level cigarette brands given priority in development while the city-level tobacco companies in Anhui Province will each designate 50 city-level priority cigarette brands. The establishment of the cigarette brand development system is intended to strengthen the development of competitive brands of Anhui and enhance the competitiveness of the tobacco manufacturers in the province. In the establishment of the cigarette brand development system, the tobacco monopoly administrations at all levels in Anhui will extend organization and policy support. The city-level tobacco companies in the province will each set up a Cigarette Brand Management Center with specialized managers taking charge of the work of planning, pricing, sales promotion and assessment of cigarette brands. For cigarette brands that are not designated as provincial-level or city-level priority brands, they must give way to priority brands, and will have to be phased out in a transition period, according to the provincial tobacco monopoly administration. Meanwhile, the provincial tobacco industry will manage to improve the reputation and fame of the priority brands through specialized marketing, the provincial tobacco monopoly administration noted.
