Chinese Tobacco Machinery Products Enter Global Market

Chinese tobacco machinery manufacturers signed contracts over export of new sets of tobacco machines valued at 3.5 million U.S. dollars in 2003, while the products were exported to 12 countries and regions and 2.13-million-dollar foreign exchange earnings produced. Meanwhile, it was the first for China to export spare and accessory parts for tobacco machinery. The tobacco machinery industry and China Tobacco Import & Export Co. cooperated last year, while the cooperation between port tobacco companies and tobacco machinery manufacturers was mainly contributed to the achievement. The move has broken the traditional structure of monopolization of the international tobacco machinery market by European and American companies. Currently, the domestic tobacco machinery industry is operated by China Tobacco Machinery Group Co. Limited in a unified way, which administrates Shanghai Tobacco Machinery Co., Changde Machinery Co., Qinghuangdao Tobacco Machinery Co. and Xuchang Tobacco Machinery Co. Over the past decades, the domestic tobacco machinery industry has introduced and learnt more than 50 technological projects of tobacco machinery manufacturing from foreign countries. It has grasped most manufacturing technologies for threshing and redrying and tow-making equipment which have been applied now by the international tobacco industry.
