The tobacco leaf redrying and processing undertaken by the second redrying workshop of Hongta Tobacco Leaf Co. entered the last period on December 16, while the leaf will be exported to Japan and the United States. Hongta International Co., in charge of the leaf export, will establish a system for tracking the quality of tobacco leaf planting and will conduct leaf redrying under the international standard. After the entry into the WTO, China is required to establish a complete system for tracking the quality of products according to various requirements for food production and processing and export in the world. In this circumstance, Hongta International Co. has strengthened improvement of brand and increase of influence by improving the grade of exported leaves while escalating the international cigarette market. This measure has greatly attracted global tobacco firms from Japan and the United States. Hongta International Co. signed a contract with the U.S. Global Tobacco Leaf Co. on leaf export. With this chance, Hongta has strengthened construction of the hardware equipment for the system for tracking the tobacco quality. From the very start of tobacco planting, the company has invited technicians of the U.S. Global Tobacco Leaf Co. to provide whole-course quality tracking, while urging all municipal and county-level tobacco companies involved to give priority to the quality of leaves to be exported. Soil management, tobacco transplant, fertilization, capping, pruning and the rate of maturity of growth have been strictly standardized. In the process of redrying, Hongta International Co. sent special employees to coordinate with the business manager of the U.S. firm in examining and guiding the selection by grade of tobacco leaves, compounding materials and processing, so as to effectively ensure quality of the leaves. The U.S. business manager involved said Hongta enjoyed very good working condition and quality of the leaves met the requirement of the global market. He said he hoped that his company would have long-term cooperation with Hongta, which is a strong and famous enterprise in China. The U.S. Global Tobacco Leaf Co. is the largest tobacco leaf processing enterprise in the world and acts as a middleman in the export of Hongta leaf. Hongta International Co., viewed as a window of Hongta Group toward the overseas market, has attached great importance to the processing of the leaves for export. Dong Jianhua, manager of the company, has frequently provided examination and guidance in workshops. Dong said the export marked further adjustment of the working style of Hongta and the company sought for cooperation with overseas companies before leaf planting instead of simple sales promotion. The cooperation helps with more accurate objective on the market and deeper understanding of the prospect of the market. Meanwhile, with the change of the international situation, many international tobacco companies have favored the opening up of the Chinese market, economic stability in the country and the quality of domestic tobacco leaf, while expecting long-term, stable cooperation with China. Particularly, tobacco leaf produced in Yunnan and especially that produced by Hongta has attracted international tobacco companies. Hongta witnessed good situation of Virginia tobacco export this year and the amount of staple tobacco export reached some 10000 tons.
