Provincial Tobacco Industry Manages to Further Develop Big Brands Source from: -02/04/2004 02/04/2004 ![]() The tobacco industry of east China’s Jiangsu Province is managing to further promote the development of big cigarette brands by merging tobacco manufacturers based in other Chinese regions.
Xuzhou Cigarette Factory in Jiangsu has merged Chengcheng Cigarette Factory in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, and Nanjing Cigarette Factory in Jiangsu is negotiating with Nanyang Cigarette Factory in central China’s Henan Province on possible merger. Meanwhile, Huaiyin Cigarette Factory in Jiangsu is actively seeking cooperation partners from other Chinese regions.
In a related development, Nantong Filter Tips Experimental Factory in Jiangsu has filed an application for establishing a filter tip materials research and development center for China’s tobacco industry.
In 2003, the tobacco industry of Jiangsu earned 12.487 billion yuan (1.5 billion U.S. dollars) in cigarette sales income, up 17.21 percent year-on-year, and 2.009 billion yuan (242 million U.S. dollars) in profits, up 20.58 percent year-on-year. Enditem
