US: Padróns In Square Tubes Shipping This Week Source from: Cigar Aficionado 05/15/2017 ![]() A shipment of Padrón cigars packed in distinctive and squared-off tubes is heading to cigar shops this week. The Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Presidente and Soberano, a pair of sizes made especially for these tubes, is on its way to Tobacconist Association of America cigar shops in the United States. Square tubes are quite rare in the cigar business. The Presidente measures 6 inches long by 50 ring gauge and has a suggested retail price of $15.50. The Soberano, which is shorter and has a bigger ring gauge, is 5 by 52, selling for $14.50. Sales of the cigars began on a limited basis last year and are now being released on a national level. The sizes are relatively new, but the blend is not. "It's an Anniversary blend," said Jorge Padrón, president of Padrón Cigars Inc. This week's shipment is expressly for TAA members. Further shipments will follow later this year after the cigars go on display at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers trade show in July. The tubos come in wooden boxes containing 15 cigars, three rows of five. Enditem |
