US: Gurkha Cigars To Acquire American Caribbean Cigars Source from: halfwheel.com 05/09/2017 For as many cigars as Gurkha Cigars has in its vast portfolio, there was one fairly key piece missing in the company's operation: a factory of its own. That has changed, however, as the company has announced that it will acquire American Caribbean Cigars out of Esteli, Nicaragua to be the company's first proprietary factory. The two companies are quite familiar with each other, having worked together for more than five years. In the first year of their partnership, the factory produced approximately 150,000 cigars for Gurkha, a number that grew to five million cigars last year, according to a press release issued by Gurkha. "Our company has seen rapid growth despite its boutique approach," said Kaizad Hansotia, ceo of Gurkha Cigars, via a press release. "Owning our own factory is a natural transition and the next strategic step in being able to continue to satisfy the needs of Gurkha fans worldwide." American Caribbean Cigars will now be the location where Gurkha will produce what it refers to as its small batch boutique blends. The company currently produces its Cellar Reserve Platinum, Heritage Collection, Trinity, Founder's Select, Jubilee, Royal Challenge The factory has also produced cigars for Vintage Rockefeller Cigar Group, the Tora?o Family Cigar Co. and Leccia Tobacco, as well as its own lines of cigar called La Rosa de Sandiego. An email to the company asking if the factory will continue to produce cigars for other brands has not yet been answered. Additionally, the company did not clarify if it would continue using other factories to produce some of its lines. Enditem |
