New Davidoff Escurio Sizes Coming This Month Source from: Cigar Aficionado 06/02/2016 Davidoff of Geneva is gearing up to add a slew of new sizes to its Brazilian-inspired Escurio line. The Swiss cigarmaker will introduce a corona gorda and perfecto size, along with a small-format cigar and machine-made cigarillos. All will begin shipping to U.S. retailers on June 15. Two of the new sizes, Corona Gorda and Gran Perfecto, contain the same blend as the original Escurio vitolas. That blend includes Cuban-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador, Brazilian Cubra binder and filler tobaccos composed of Brazilian Mata Fina and Cubra, as well as Dominican San Vicente, Piloto and hybrid Olor-Piloto. The Corona Gorda, the longest Escurio cigar, measures 6 inches by 46 ring gauge. It will ship in four-packs and boxes of 12 while retailing for $15.90 per cigar. Gran Perfecto, which is the first figurado in the Escurio line, measures 5 inches by 61 ring gauge at its fattest point. The cigar will retail for $16.90 and come in boxes 12 as well as three-packs. Primeros by Davidoff Escurio, which the company is labeling a petit panetela, measures only 4 1/8 inches by 34 ring gauge. These handmade cigars contain the same wrapper and binder as the main Escurio line, except the Brazilian and Dominican fillers have been tweaked. Primeros will come in tins of six that retail for $29 each. Davidoff Escurio launched last summer in three sizes. The brand name is a portmanteau of the words oscuro, the darkest shade of cigar wrapper, and Rio, in reference to the city of Rio de Janeiro. The Escurio line is manufactured by Cigars Davidoff in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Enditem |
