Asylum 13 Connecticut Coming Soon

The CLE Cigar Company is adding a Connecticut version of its most popular cigar brand to its portfolio, and it's expected to hit stores in the United States by the end of this month.

The new Asylum 13 Connecticut sports a Honduran binder and filler of Honduran Corojo and Habano tobaccos, draped in Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. All the Honduran tobaccos come from the farms of Christian Eiroa, the owner of CLE Cigar Company.

"The Corojo gives the cigar a bit of spice," said Asylum co-founder Tom Lazuka, who blended the cigar with Eiroa. "We went through about 15 to 20 blends looking for one that wouldn't dry out the mouth."

Like the other Asylum brands, the sizes for Asylum 13 Connecticut will run large. Scheduled to be sent to retailers near the end of February are a 5 inch by 50 ring gauge smoke, a 6 by 60 and a 7 by 70. The 50- and 60-ring gauge sizes will be packed in 50-count boxes, while the 70 ring will be housed in boxes of 30. The cigars will retail from $5.80 to $7.80.

The cigars were rolled at Eiroa's Aladino factory in Danlí, Honduras.

Additionally, Lazuka said that the company will be adding a 6 inch by 52 ring gauge toro to the Asylum 13 Connecticut in March, and that all other Asylum 13 brands—Asylum 13 (Habano), Authentic Corojo and Ogre—will be getting the new toro size. This new toro will come packed in 50-count boxes, but a price has not yet been set. Enditem
