New Señorial Cigars Debut at IPCPR Source from: Cigar Aficionado 07/23/2015 ![]() Las Cumbres Tabaco, the cigar company founded in February last year by industry veterans José Blanco and his wife, Emma Viktorsson, showcased two new expansions to its flagship cigar line, Señorial, at the IPCPR trade show last weekend. The company unveiled a new brand called Señorial Maduro Natural, as well as a new Lancero for the original Señorial line. "We gave it the name Natural because the wrapper is rather rustic," Viktorsson, co-owner and marketing manager at Las Cumbres Tabaco, told Cigar Insider. The cigar features a Mexican San Andrès wrapper, a Piloto Cubano binder from the Dominican Republic, and a filler combination of Dominican Criollo '98 and Piloto Cubano. "José loves the Mexican San Andrès wrapper but has not actually used it until now. It fits into the full-flavor profile that Señorial is very much about," Viktorsson said. The cigar launched in four sizes: Lonsdale Refinado, at 6 1/2 inches by 44 ring gauge ($7.50); Robusto Digno 5 1/2 by 50 ($8.50); Toro Coloso, 6 by 54 ($9); and Opulento, 6 by 60 ($10). "Making the Maduro for Señorial required more than just slapping on a maduro wrapper-José had a lot of work tweaking to balance the Mexican San Andrès with the blend," she said. Additionally, a new Lancero size joined the ranks of the original Señorial vitolas. The Lancero comes in the original Señorial blend with an Ecuador Habano wrapper, a binder from Nicaragua and fillers from the Dominican Republic. The cigar measures 7 by 38 and will retail for $9. "It is the same blend of Señorial, of course, and it's 'just another size,' but to get a Lancero well balanced and with a good draw is not easy," she added. Asked why the husband-and-wife team decided on a lancero format, Viktorsson revealed the answer was twofold: "The lancero is one of our favorite sizes. José prefers not to smoke over a 52 or 54 ring gauge, and I do not like to smoke anything over a 52. The second reason is that many smokers have been asking us to make one." Viktorsson says the Señorial Maduro Naturals should be on store shelves by August. They will come in boxes of 21. The Señorial Lancero has already shipped and comes packaged in boxes of 48. The cigars are manufactured at the Tabacalera Palma factory in Tamboril, the Dominican Republic. Enditem |
