Limited-Edition Oktoberfests Coming This Fall

This is the fifth consecutive year that Quesada Cigars will be releasing its beer-friendly Oktoberfest cigar line, and to celebrate, the company is adding two limited-edition Nicaraguan puros.

The new limited-edition Nicaraguan Oktoberfests are being rolled at Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua and come in two sizes: Das Brauhaus, which measures a stout 4 1/2 inches by 60 ring gauge, sports a coil cap and will retail for $7.50. The Double Bock, a 7 by 47 classic Churchill, is the longest Oktoberfest rolled so far, and will retail for $8.95.

Both of the Nicaraguan Oktoberfests puros are covered by the same wrapper, a high-priming, Cuban-seed leaf grown in Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. However, the internal tobaccos differ. Das Brauhaus includes a Nicaraguan Cuban-seed viso binder from Estelí and a filler combination of Cuban-seed ligero from Estelí and Condega. In turn, Double Bock features a Cuban-seed viso binder from Jalapa, with a filler blend of seco (which is a higher-priming leaf than viso) from Ometepe and ligeros cultivated from Estelí and Condega.

Das Brauhaus will be packed in boxes of 24 that resemble a mountain house you might see in the Alps, while Double Bock comes in 10-count, semi-boite nature boxes.

"Aficionados will now have a choice of flavors with Oktoberfest," said Terence Reilly of Quesada Cigars in a press release.

The Quesada Oktoberfest brand was created in 2011 as a limited-edition seasonal smoke intended to pair with the Märzen-style beers served in Munich during Oktoberfest.

While the blend for the six sizes that make up the core Oktoberfest line has not changed, the Dominican wrapper (which Quesada Cigars called Cibao) is from a different vintage than previous releases. Enditem
