Cuban Petit Robustos Reach Retail Shops

A 10-pack of petit robustos from Cuba's five major brands is now available in cigar retail shops around the world. The Selección Petit Robustos has been a duty-free exclusive since 2012 but its success there prompted Habanos S.A., the Cuban cigar monopoly, to expand the distribution.

The 10-pack contains two cigars from five brands: Cohiba, H. Upmann, Montecristo, Partagás and Romeo y Julieta. Although the 4 inch by 50 ring gauge cigars are categorized as petit robustos in Cuban factories, none of these brands are normally produced in the petit robusto format.

According to a Habanos spokesperson, the packaging has been updated for the wider retail market, and both the Cohibas and the Montecristos will carry the new gilded bands from both brands. The production of this special selection has been limited to 15,000 cases, or 150,000 cigars.

The cigars should be available soon throughout the world, according to the Habanos spokesperson. There was no available information on pricing for the case, but at several online Cuban cigar retailers, the price ranged from $149 to $169 for the 10-pack. Enditem
