Quesada Teams Up with Plasencia for St. Paddy''s Day Cigar

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Quesada Cigars has released a limited-edition cigar specifically blended to be paired with an Irish stout beer. Dubbed the Quesada Keg Edition, the cigar comes in just one size, a 6 inch by 50 ring gauge Toro, and ships in a miniature wooden barrel adorned with the words "Quesada Keg" and a green cloverleaf. Each keg is filled with 21 cigars.

Unlike most St. Patrick's Day cigars that are covered in bright green candela leaf, the Quesada Keg Edition features dark Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper around Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The blend is designed to complement the roasted malt flavor of an Irish stout.

The marriage of alcohol and cigars isn't anything new for Quesada: Beer fans will recall the company's seasonal release-Quesada Oktoberfest-as a cigar designed to be paired with the Märzen-style beers associated with the German holiday. The scope of the St. Patricks's day project, however, is much smaller than its Bavarian-themed brother. Only 250 Quesada kegs will be produced this year.

Made by the Plasencia Family in Nicaragua, the Quesada Keg Edition is the first cigar bearing the Quesada name to be made outside the company's namesake factory in the Dominican Republic.

The Quesada Keg Edition is available now, with individual cigars retailing for $7.95. Enditem
