Fattest Padilla Ever Coming This Summer

Ernesto Padilla, a purist when it comes to cigar sizes, is reluctantly dipping his toes into the world of ultra-fat cigars. Although he's admittedly not a fan of ring gauges that stray far north of 50, his new Padilla Cava will have three sizes with ring gauge of 60.

Padilla's move to bring out a line of ultra-fat cigars follows a trend toward ever fatter smokes that has been warmly embraced by cigar lovers across the United States, and to a lesser extent, the world.

Padilla Cava will come in four sizes: There will be a 6 inch long by 60 ring gauge smoke, a 7 by 60 and an 8 by 60. The fourth size will be a robusto, whose final ring gauge has yet to be determined, but it's certain to be in the 50s. The price will be around $6.50 to $8.50 per cigar.

The cigars are being rolled at Tabacalera Oliva, the factory that makes all Oliva brand cigars, plus NuB, Cain and many Padillas. The cigar will feature a wrapper and binder leaf from Ecuador, grown from Havana seed, and Nicaraguan filler tobacco grown by the Olivas. Enditem
