France: Davidoff iD Gets First Inflight Duty-free Listing Source from: Dfnionline.com 11/02/2012 ![]() The product will be sold on board KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ non-EU flights from January 1 2013. Tobacco products supplier Imperial Tobacco signed last week at the Tax Free World Association show in Cannes its first inflight duty-free listing for Davidoff iD premium cigarettes. Two varieties (iD Touch Orange and Blue) will be sold on board KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ non-EU flights from January 1 2013, and will also be available for pre-order by passengers and crew. ![]() Imperial Tobacco Davidoff brand manager global duty-free Gotje Rogall said: "This is a very exciting agreement for us—a win-win situation really. KLM’s buyer Frank Hoogma first approached us last year when the airline was considering the reintroduction of cigarettes to the inflight portfolio. We are absolutely delighted that he has chosen to list Davidoff iD." Hoogma added: "KLM has not sold cigarettes on board since 1986, but we decided to reintroduce them following a six-month trial carried out earlier this year. In deciding the brands to offer, we were looking not just for brand leaders but brands that were innovative and different. Davidoff iD meets this need perfectly, adding value and interest to attract the passenger onboard. We are very pleased to be working with Imperial Tobacco on this project and signing the agreement here in Cannes—which is, of course, the showcase platform for all brands." The Davidoff iD range was introduced earlier this year to duty-free in Eastern Europe and Asia, with two of the three varieties available in selected Western European markets. The global roll-out will continue later this year and into 2013. "The listing with KLM is significant in our continuing roll-out of the brand throughout Europe and beyond. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Davidoff iD and I am sure it will generally boost volume sales," concluded Rogall. Enditem |
