China: Yunyan, Honghe Rank in China's 500 Most Valuable Brands 2012 Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/24/2012 ![]() Yunyan and Honghe - two leading competitive cigarette brands of the HongyunHonghe Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - rank in the list of China's 500 Most Valuable Brands 2012 released by World Brand Lab in Beijing on recently on the basis of analysis of the finance, consumer behavior and brand strength of the brands concerned.
In the list of China's 500 Most Valuable Brands 2012, Yunyan ranks the 30th among all the 500 brands and the 1st among the brands of the tobacco industry, with the value of 52.069 billion yuan. Meanwhile, Honghe ranks the 63rd among the 500 and the 3rd among those of the tobacco industry, with the value of 17.876 billion yuan. Chuanghwa of Shanghai Tobacco Group ranks the 33rd among the 500 and the 2nd among those of the tobacco industry, with the value of 46.681 billion yuan. The rankings of both Yunyan and Honghe this year were on a par with their standings at the same annual event in 2011.
The World Brand Lab has been publishing the list annually since 2004 and it said that the brand awareness of Chinese companies has improved considerably. In the past only manufacturers paid much care to their brand image, but now the media, financial and retail industries are all strengthening their branding efforts, according to the list.

In the list of China's 500 Most Valuable Brands 2008, Yunyan ranks the 1st among the brands of the tobacco industry, with the value of 34.518 billion yuan Yunnan’s value has increased to near 20 billion yuan, up by 5.344 billion yuan from 2011. Honghe ranks the 63rd among the 500 and the 3rd among those of the tobacco industry, with the value of 11.398 billion yuan (1.68 billion U.S. dollars) in 2010, and the value of 2012 increased by 6.5 billion yuan in two years.
HongyunHonghe Group expanded market share under perfect strategy in these years. In 2009, HongyunHonghe Group sold 4.2366 million cases (211.83 billion cigarettes), generated 35.412 billion yuan in taxes and profits, up 7.03 percent year-on-year; In 2010, HongyunHonghe Group generated 40 billion yuan in taxes and profits.
