Regional Tobacco Industry Strives to Develop Low-Grade Cigarette Products Source from: Yangtze River Tobacco journal 03/19/2007 ![]() The tobacco industry of southwest China's Chongqing City is striving to develop low-grade cigarette products, in accordance with the production planning of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) - the regulator of China's tobacco industry - and in an effort to meet the high market demand for low-grade cigarettes.
The STMA has issued Chongqing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration with the quotas of selling 44 billion cigarettes (880,000 cases) and producing 17.5 billion low-grade cigarettes (350,000 cases) in 2007.
In light of the level of cigarette consumption in Chongqing City and the low-grade cigarette production capacity of the local cigarette manufacturing enterprise, Chongqing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration has instructed all enterprises of the regional tobacco industry to focus energy on developing cigarette products of such famous brands as the Bumper Harvest, Hongsheng (Soft), Tianxiaxiu (Green Lid Wuniu), Hongmei (Shun), the Red Camellia (Soft), Jiatianxia (Mild New Soft) and Hibiscus (Yellow).
It wishes to bring all low-grade cigarette products of the regional tobacco industry under these brands through efforts of one year or so, in order to meet the high market demand for low-grade cigarettes in the city. Enditem
